Christian leaders have now responded to the situation in Ferguson; many leaders turned to Twitter as a platform to offer words of spiritual guidance and prayers for peace.
President of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary Al Mohler wrote, “We
are witnessing a portrait of civilization in meltdown. These images
will be long seared into the nation’s conscience. They must be.”
From Christian author Jen Hatmaker: “The collective cries of the black
community should move & grieve us, Church. We mourn with those who
mourn & act justly, love mercy.”
President and CEO of World Relief Steven Bauman said, “We need each
other now, black and white, to grieve, to empathize, to create a better
tomorrow.”
Leith Anderson, President of the National Association of Evangelicals
posted, “With heavy heart ... watched Ferguson on TV much of last
night/this morning. Praying that God will bring unexpected good from all
the pain.”
Authorities in Ferguson have recently reported that the violence that followed the jury decision has died down.
